The most sophisticated early childhood teaching, research and community engagement initiative undertaken in Australia.
Early Start is a unique combination of community outreach, education and research initiatives, brought together under one roof with the aim of helping children realise their potential and live happy, fulfilling and healthy lives.
Rather than taking a simple approach to complex problems, the $44 million initiative at the University of Wollongong (UOW), champions a truly transdisciplinary approach.
Why was Early Start established?
Early Start as founded in response to the education, health and welfare needs of children growing up in 21st Century Australia.
It focuses on UOW's intellectual and research capacity to tackle the cycle of disadvantage that families in regional, rural and remote areas often experience. We believe that more can be done to help children flourish and realise their potential.
